It’s a Wrap!
Make your own wrapping paper and amaze future gift recipients! Or use your day’s production as book covers; or decorate your abode by displaying a few sheets on the wall. In this workshop both printing novices and those with experience will use the Vandercook proof press to richly decorate blank sheets of paper. In a spirit of playful experimention, we’ll use NBLA’s collection of wood type and photopolymer plates, along with lino cuts and found objects (very flat ones only!) such as leaves, fabric, and string, to print multi-layered gift wrap, book covers, or artwork suitable for framing. Explore pressure printing, ghost printing, and serendipity. Each student takes home 10 sheets of their own creation, plus a sampling from the rest of the class.
